Default LED Headlight Issue...NEED HELP! ('95 Road King)

I've checked around and no one seams to have this same issue (Google, Forums, etc)...

Alright, here we go.

I've got a '95 Road King and I went through this past weekend and upgraded all the lights to LED. I've got the turn signal issue, but mine stay ON when selected (no rapid flash), and I've got 2 sets of universal load equalizers on their way from Custom Dynamics for the front and rear turn signal circuits.

The problem I need your help with is my Headlight/Passing lights. Everything works fine in LOW Beam, but when I select HIGH beam...ALL the lights go out (headlight, passing lights). I think the passing lights are supposed to go out by design when you select high beam, but not 100% on this (if someone can confirm, that would be awesome). I have been able to have the light stay on, and the HIGH beam turn on but that's by finding the "sweet spot" on the switch itself. I can rock the switch in-between LOW and HIGH....and the headlight will work as it should (passing lights still go out) with the high beam on.

Any help you guys could give me would be great! Do I need another load equalizer for the headlight circuit?

H-D passing lights turn off when high beam is selected. In some states it's illegal to run the passing light with the high beam. There is a H-D and after market item that allows the passing lights lights to stay on in hi beam. It cheap and easy to install CD sells it also.

Lighting was a set from Amazon and did not include instructions or a schematic. The passing lights had to be hard wired (soldered and heatshrink), and the headlight was plug-and-play (standard H4).

Should be pretty straight forward. If the “High” beam isnt working on the headlight, I might suspect a DOA eBay special. Use a Voltmeter to determine if the plug gets the voltage when High is engaged and that will pretty much tell you.

You can hot wire the passing lights to stay on with the high beam yourself, but you need some electrical skill. The HD (Or others) harness simplifies it if you're a “Plug and Play” type of person.

I probably should have added that I took the headlight and bench tested the highbeam using the ground and highbeam(+) on the headlights plug. I didnt test the plug inside the headlight bucket for a voltage drop though, which should be next on my list for trouble shooting.

Just trying to figure out if I'm getting a voltage drop...would a load equalizer fix that issue the same way it does on the LED turn signals?

Im guessing “No” Ive only ever used the separate “Load equalizers” to correct the hyper flashing, if you already have a “Badlands” or similar load equalizer installed for the rears or somewhere on the bike, it typically takes care of the rapid flashing at all 4 corners. I dont have any separate load equalizers on my bike, just the inline module for the whole lighting circuit. Too much going on when you have to add equalizers all over the place, and plugging into the stock harness with no mods is “Gold”.

The eBay link indicated there is some sort of “Low voltage protection” incorporated into the headlight. Not sure what that means.......

Gotcha. Fingers crossed when I put in the load equalizer (from Custom Dynamics) it fixes the issue. I ordered two thinking I'd need one for the front and one for the rear, but thats awesome if you're telling me a single unit can potentially fix the entire circuit! From what I was reading, the load equalizer gets installed up stream of the turn signals, so I was assuming a load equalizer would be needed between the signal flasher and each set of signals (front/rear).

Thanks again!
