Default M8 battery tender

I have a 2020 Softail FXLR Lowrider with the stock pigtail battery tender hanging out the front of the left side cover. I purchased the battery charging harness with LED charge indicator, part # 66000005 and I’m wondering what is the best way to replace the stock tender with this one as the stock one comes out of a wiring harness.

You will have to connect it to the battery posts, you certainly don`t want to cut into the wiring harness...

Well, being that I don’t want two battery tenders on my bike, I was wondering about the possibility of cutting both battery tenders off of their individual leads (leaving some of the wire on of course) and then splicing the new one on instead of the old one as their is some extra wire extending out of the wiring harness.

Do you really need that gizmo on your bike so badly that you are willing to cut into an electrical harness?

Just roll up the OEM pigtail and secure it out of the way and install the gizmo pigtail by connecting to the battery posts.

If I was to do this (but I wouldn't) I would twist the two sides together, solder them properly, coat it with clear silicon, and then slip a heat shrink over that I had slipped on before twisting it all together. Shrink and walk away.
Personally, I'd take the old, tie-wrap it out of the way, and install the new on battery terminals.
