Default Security pin question

My salesman told me what the pin was for my bike. It doesn't sound like the most secure thing as it's basically the VIN. Is it the same with all these keyless start bikes? Or is your combination of VIN different than mine?

Just how concerned are you about someone stealing your motorcycle anyway? My plan is to ride it to work, but after thinking about it & googling "they stole my motorcycle" most of them were stolen from "work." & I do work at night from time to time.

You can change the pin to almost whatever you want. How to do it is in your owners manual.

Does that disable the one the salesman, based on the VIN, gave me? The PIN I put in replaces that one?

If you change it, it erases and replaces the current pin.

Remembering your PIN with keyless bikes is crucial to avoid things like being stranded or preventing theft.

Changing it to something you'll always remember is "key" for safety.

We have done a few videos on the best way to address changing your Pin you may find helpful.

Here is Dwayne doing a walkthrough for this on Kevin's Trike.

Lastly we have Devin showing how this is done on his Gen II M8.

Always a good idea to reference the manual as well.

Ride Safe, Ride Free.

When I got my scooter, the dealer had set the code to 11111. I've always assumed that was done for the ease of employees
moving the scooters around their dealership.

I quickly changed my code to something I wouldn't forget.

You can't use zeros but pick 5 numbers that mean something to you, and you won't forget. Such as the first, or last, 5 numbers
of your SSN, Or perhaps an address, birthdate, etc.....

I've posted before about how my H1 was stolen while I was in class at UNLV, the first day I parked without using a little chain
through my rear wheel. It, theft, does happen. Day or night.

I began using a heavy chain then.

Hey Rjg883c,

I use a zero in my pin. Took me a minute to figure it out, but it worked on my 2015 Ultra.

What's the trick?

How do you enter it when it is needed?

My owner's manual indicates, when changing the PIN 'enter a 5-digit (1 thru 9) PIN....'
