Default 2001 Dyna won't start

Hey all, I have a 2001 Dyna, sits on a battery tender, all stock. Yesterday, went to go for a ride, hit the starter button and got:"click, click click" from the starter and and no start. Starter? Stator? What do you think?

load test the battery? take it down to autozone or some place like that and they'll do it for free. If it shows 12+ volts across the battery, doesn't necessarily mean it's good.

the HD smart battery tenders are designed to simply supply a trickle charge to a battery when needed and stop charging when not needed. this charging process takes nothing more into consideration when charging other than current voltage of the battery. so basically there is no load functionality built into them. The reasoning behind the "trickle" is batteries will develop a memory when left unattended and un-maintained. So if you run the bike for a few months and the bike's electrical system only charges the battery up to 80% charge and it's never put on a battery tender, then over time the battery will come to think that 80% is a full charge instead of the 100%. This is where trickle chargers come in. They bring the battery up to 100% capacity each time, as long as the battery itself is still good.

More than you probably wanted to know. :-)

My bike was doing the same click click, So I put a volt meter, It showed it was good, I started asking some freinds for a few days what do they think it is, All said something different, So a week went by and im thinking what the hell do i do, So I went out and bought a new battery and thats what it was, It showed good with the volt meter, I had the trickle on it to, I guess it had a bad cell or something...Crash
