Default set/resume switch problem

I recently had heated grips installed on my 06 RKC at my semi-local dealer (65 miles to the closest one) and now my set/resume switch does not activate my cruise control. I called the tech who did the work and he said it probably did not get hooked back up right and it will be about two weeks before they can get to me and I may have to leave my scoot there for a few days...all of which sucks eggs big time!!! How hard is it to open that part of the housing up and check for a simple failure by the tech to hook it up and hopefully fix it myself? Any advice would be helpful as I don't want to damage something because as of right now, this is their fault...not mine or my bikes.
