So, I'm planning the ignition switch relocation mod to my Street Bob when I get back South.
What I'm wondering, since I'm nowhere close to a Harley, let alone an ignition switch is whether or not the switch is plastic or metal.
Can it be broken down and powdercoated? I'd like to go black instead of the usual chrome on everyone's bike.
Well, the OEM one on my FXDP is chrome-plated metal. You'd have to etch the chrome to get primer/paint to stick. Now the $25 aftermarket versions on fleabay, I will be able to tell you in about a week, because my OEM ign switch just failed & I ordered one of the aftermarket versions today.
Yea, the OEM switch can be disassembled, a snap ring underneath holds it all together.
