Default 82 FXRS electrical help

I bought my first bike 82 fxrs. It had been sitting for two years. Me and a buddy got it running but we both can't do electrical so I need some help. The head light and tail light work but not the brake light or turn signals. I'd like to know how to troubleshoot the problem. Any input is appreciated. Btw I'm in Orange county ca , if anyone knows a good Harley repair shop that'll work on an old bike. Thanks

My first recommendation would be to obtain a service manual if at all possible. It will have a wiring diagram that will make electrical troubleshooting much easier. Then of course you will need a hand-held multimeter for checking voltage at various points. You can get a cheap multimeter from Harbor Freight that will do the job.

if it's been sitting up that long and before you go off chasing your tail
  1. change all the bulbs
  2. make sure when you pull the bulbs that you check the bulb sockets for corrosion
  3. when you put the new bulbs in, put dielectric grease in the bulb sockets
