Default Looking for Long Range driving lights....?

Got to ride from the Pacific Northwest to the Northeast in less than five days.
Preferably in three plus... Think it will be about, about 3500 miles.
Any suggestions for additional lights, maybe even a set of fogs too?
PIAA, Hella, Rigid, Warn, KC.???

Just fitted PIAA 530 LEDs to my - well, European Adventure bike and they are NOT as fantastic as the smaller 1100X by PIAA too.

Anyone use a tank bag? With a map pocket?

Route.....? Probably Rt 2 the whole way?
Thanks

You don't mention which model bike you are going to be riding! Or why you want extra lights. If you want them to help you be seen, the PIAA are very appealing.

Mr Brown?
Wanting the extra lights to extend my riding hours....... Sometimes opting to ride at night, means avoiding the heat of the day, a lot of the traffic, most of the Heavy Hauler Semi's and generally......you can see forever......with the right lights.

Have PIAAs on my BM, had Hella's on my LR 101 and Cibie Super Oscars on my Saab.....

Hoping to see who recommends what for an FLHTP.....?

Default Lighting

I have one set of 4 1/2" projector beam replacement passing lamps. Has Hi & low beam. Remove your whole light fixture and install these. Brand new for $300/each which is $600/pair. They are 35 Watt HID. LINK

Well I think Howard has just trumped anything I might suggest! There are many threads on improving lighting in the Touring forum, starting with replacing the reflector for a better quality one. Trucklite and Daymaker get frequent mentions, including replacements for the passing lamps, which can be rewired so they stay on all the time. So there are ways of improving what you currently have, before adding extra lights. I use the H-D foglamps (oval and mounted on the crashbar) as additional daytime lights, but can't recommend them for driving at night.

Thanks Gentlemen, thought about the oval crash bar mounted lights but yes, Mr Messner's ones are pretty damn impressive. Unfortunately, they are also very expensive!
The Scottish blood is very thick I am afraid, which results in having great difficulty in pulling out credit cards or money......
The FLHTP might have okay lights already but if I ride through the night on day One and day Three, I just need to be able to turn night into day.

What is it with BMW??? On a loaner - brand new - F800GS Adventure last night, full beam was only, only marginally better than dipped. The fog lights were spectacular though!!!!!

Take a look in the Touring section old chap, there are plenty of lighting threads there. If you're in the UK some of the solutions won't work (Trucklite don't appear to make left-dipping units) but there are better reflectors available. I currently have a Valeo, successors of Cibie. I also have used Oscars, on a car, but they may be asking a bit much of a dresser! Take a look at Demon Tweeks.

Mr Brown.....
Honestly, Mr Messners' lights look superb but as I tried to say, $600 for two lights? Demon Tweeks has not sent a catalogue for ages!!
Cannot believe Hein Gericke has gone....again!

There's always the internet! HG are still around and DT has a website. Have you seen the price of Oscars?! The better PIAA lamps sound like a reasonable bet.
