Battery tender question

Will a battery tender fully recharge a battery that has discharged to the point that it won't start the bike? I usually (not always) keep my two year old battery on a Tender, but yesterday morning - After sitting only about a week "un-Tendered" - it gave me the solenoid click-of-death! So I plugged the Tender in and yesterday afternoon I had a green light. Tried to crank and still just click click click. So I put it on my Schumacher overnight on trickle, put it in my bike this morning and it cranked right up. Took it out and took it to O'Reilly's and it tested good. Why did it die after only a week and why did my Tender not charge it FULLY even though I had a green light?

A battery tender isn`t designed to recharge a dead or near dead battery, but I think the Battery Tender Plus is a maintainer and charger.
Check the charging system and also check for parasitic drain on the battery.
