Default Oil pump screens

Is anybody running these to help protect their oil pumps? Just curious as it seems like it could be wrecked by a bearing or chain tensioner rather quickly.

Subscribed thinking about adding them to my upcoming build as well. Makes sense but hope you get some responses.

Their are laterally thousand and thousand of bikes running without these screens. I don't see a need.

Check this out ultra...

What's the best way to keep this from happening? As soon as my new crank gets here, I will be assembling a 113. I saw on another ( vtwin) forum, people were going to a flat circlip instead of the bowed one that HD sells.

not sure what I'm supposed to be looking at but what I see is a guy with very bad luck on a 120r. Don't see what that has to do with the screen. The clip also has hundreds of thousands of bikes running them without issue.

If he had these screens installed, his pump would have never swallowed those pieces. I guess what I am asking is, other than the $30, are there any negative effects to having the screens? Could they cause a restriction? I guess they are only a good investment if they save your engine?

if something clogs them up, IMO no oil or lack of oil flowing is just as bad as pieces of metal flowing through there. I dunno bud.. just my way of thinking I guess..

No, I appreciate you input. Probably just a paranoid knee jerk reaction to all of the checks I have been writing for this build.
