What makes a cam sound great ? I know the 211's sound mean, would the 257 sound just as good if not better ? Is it the duration that makes them sound different, all things being equal. Thanks ahead of time.

Cam timing, too much fuel, and not enough compression for the cam will all allow a cam to have the "cammed" sound.
A lot of our engines here don't really sound "cammed", just a crisp exhaust note.

I have a 02 street glide with 3.37 gearing, 95" ported heads etc... A friend has those cams and I want to try them out, I ride solo most of the time. Will it be okay ? Compression is 10.5:1

10.5 will be good, and you could push it a tick higher.

Are they both about the same cam, I know one has a higher lift, but what would be the difference between them ? Is one more a hot rod cam ?

I agree with Scott, and the irony is that a lot of bikes that have that great "cammed" sound are actually poor performers and pooches to ride down in the lower RPM ranges where most of us spend most of our time...

Personally, I find it hard to even get those same sounds out of a TC that we used to get from the single-cam Pans, Shovels and Evos.

Okay, but with the lower gearing does that help out the lower end grunt.
