I didn't change anything but the lifters--installed S&S standards--and the noise is gone. I can't see or feel anything wrong with the old lifters, which seems a little odd, but at this point I don't care cause it runs great.
Glade to hear that!

Thats an interesting sound, hard to say without being there, but Id say its something rattling like your indy says.(?) I take it that is the side & location that has the most sound to it...
I had similar sound to that and it was loose 02 sensor.
This is interesting. I am running a rb lsr 2-1 and I ordered it wi th 02 bungs for autotune but it came with plugs in. I have never checked there torque.
If a valvetrain-type noise increases as the engines warms up........HUGE chance it is a lifter as I stated in an earlier post, if an engine noise goes away after warm up........good chance of a loose bore on a forged piston, is so equipped.
No google "research" needed here for that.

Could running a cylinder dry for a brief minute cause a loose bore?

You did the machine work for me it was by no means loose and it only has about 800 miles on the bore. But when my pump failed I immediately shut the bike off. I was just off idle when the light came on. Could running a lifter out of oil cause the lifter to become noisy?
well i put new ss lifters in and inspected my rocker boxes/rocker shafts/rocker everything and i didnt see any sign of anything..even with new ss lifters my noise still remains. seems to be less noisy the first time i ride it after a complete cool down overnight, after first warm up and ride to work when i got out on lunch its louder and the ride home at night is loud also. im at a loss? im thinking a possible cylinder? idk the bike runs pristine it just has a damn noise. its especially noticeable under a load. 5th gear roll on the throttle, almost a clanking.
