Just use a little longer screw is what I did when mine striped. or use a tap and re-thread the hole

Oversize drilling is a pain, there really isn't enough meat there and you screw up gaskets and outer primary.

You only need 12-13 ft/lb on these fasteners. So if you go 2 diameters (about 8 coils) on a stainless helicoil then you should have more than enough strength.

A 0.5" length helicoil is fine and I have used shorter at times. If you have changed to stainless fasteners then watch galling of the stainless to stainless surface. A little bit of anti seize will prevent.

When I said oversize is a pain I meant don't go up a screw size screw just drill and helicoil for the standard 1/4.

The drill bit is 0.260 not sure what fraction, number or letter this equates to. The tap will be a helicoil specific size.

Drill bit is a 17/64"s (.265") and the tap only, should be available from your local NAPA store. (the entire kit is about $20.00)
