Default Stock pushrods or....?

Getting ready to put my 2014 SGS engine back together after head work and Andrews 57H cams. With .030 head gasket, .025 off head and .040 smaller base circle cams, stock length, non-adjustable pushrods should be fine. My question is, are the stock pushrods fine or should I go with Smith Brothers or something else for strength? If so, what type, length, wall thickness, etc. should I get? Stock length should be fine, but I don't know what that is.

Stock pushrods will work. If you decide to go adjustable, standard Smith Brothers tapered are the strongest the best hardware available. However, the three piece pushrod is a PITA to adjust and not necessary for your configuration. The SE Quick Install tapered pushrods are also good hardware and much easier to adjust and cheaper. I believe the PN is 18404-08. But, as I said, the stockers are fine and will set the lifter preload a bit deeper which is the only real reason you would want adjustables anyway.

If you can get perfect fit pushrods go that route, ajustable pushrods are cool if you plan on upgrading to bigger motor swapping out cams. Ajustable pushrods can losses up and cause damage to motor. What ever rods you go with go the chomoly there stronger S&S make quality pushrods.

Okay, probably just stick with the stock pushrods. Should work fine. Not building a race motor.

They will work fine and the valve train should be quiet.

I just did some checking on compression based on 57 cams, .030" head gasket and .025" off the heads; the motor will be pushing 200psi CCP. Did the 2014 models come with auto compression releases installed? If so, no worries. If not, I know they are wired for them and you should install them. Compression releases will extend battery and starter life.

We would rather use an S&S standard adjustable to load the lifter to .140".
No guessing, no assuming. Done.

Yeah, Scott, my plan is to use the stock pushrods and if I have problems, cut them out and use adjustables.

If you do go with the stock rods expect a little noise on top with the 57 cam. If you do decide to replace them afterwards then you only real choice will be the quickie rods unless you want to take the rocker assembly apart... And as Scott said set preload to .140"
