Lifter bore question
I got a 2009 96" Ultra classic, with shaved and flowed heads and a set of cams. Beings I bought it from a Dealer, I have no idea whats actually done. Other than it runs quite well compared to other Dressers I wide with. But o has a valve ticking noise only on the front cylinder I believe it's the exhaust one. I've tried to figure it out on my own, pulled the cover and rockers due to being able to slide the exhaust rocker side to side enough that it knocked like a coin ringing when dropped,(thought I still had a video of that, but can't find it) pulled it apart and realized just how sloppy it all fits together, rocker had enough clearance to make noise but be within specs, and the bolts and shafts fit loose. So I put in adjustable push rods, found stock push tubes and installed incorrectly. the two black ones were on the front cylinder and the two silver on the back. I thought well well wonder what else is put together wrong LOL The noise went away for about twenty minutes of riding.
So tonight I pulled the rods and the lifters on the front cylinder.
I found this in the bores.
exhaust bore looks as I would expect, single elongated oil passage.
the Intake though has that elongated passage, and another hole, that hole concern's me, does it belong, if not I'm inclined to think the oil pressure for that lifter is dumping back into the open crankcase.
Thanks for any help.
And due to this hole and web browsing tonight I ran across the Rockout kit that I'll be getting to tighten up the top end.
