ok I got my xl883l last year around august for my birthday. Everything has been fine until a few months ago!!!! I'm hearing some moderate rattling from the top on my head(or heads).. it sounds like normal until I hit oh about 3500 Rpms or so which is about 69 mph and above.... I hear this harsh rattle, it's not constant.... it comes and goes quickly(almost pulsing) and dead silent on dethrottle. Only mod I have done is taller tire one size on the rear(which 65 is 69mph) still pulls me good at 285lbs I run royal purple engine and tranny. Somebody help!!
Well it just had the full service at 15000 miles done. I take it to a retired Harley guy who runs his own shop he said nothing was wrong with it but he never got over 3000 Rpms on a test run after the service.... I forgot to add I had installed Harley SE street cannons balcony cuts on it at 5000 miles but no download or increased airflow

That's what it sounds like to me. An 883 pulling a 285 lb. rider with, perhaps a bit of carbon build up on the cylinders and quiet on decal...........yeah, I would try down shifting more often and running premium fuel if the OP is not doing that already. Run some Seafoam through intake to de-carbon piston tops as well.

How many miles on the motor?
just a little over 15,000 miles on the motor is gotten worse riding 75 miles to and from the location sounds like maybe an exhaust valve because the noise is now constant over 65 mph and the sound is directly hitting the same note is the exhaust
