Default Fuel Moto pushrods

Just had my 1st and hopefully last experience with them. I dont think you could design a worse set up if you tried! Why anybody would use anything other than the SE Tapered adjustables is beyond me!

Rant off!

Ok......and your issue?

I have the fuel moto / smith bro`s adjustable PR`s & they can be a pita to adjust BUT - well worth it as they are a solid rod & IMHO a much better quality than the S&S

nothing wrong with the S&S set up - they just had some issues in the past "nut crackers" they were called, if you compare the S&S to the fuelmoto - the S&S are a "lighter" weight rod IMO - they just seem a little cheaper in the design / weight of the product.

If your issue was the tool to hold up the stock PR tube to make the adjustments then I understand - But there is a trick / learning curve to it - trust me I know! once you get it down its easy & well worth it. honestly you wont go wrong with either.

Those are really Smith Brothers adjustable pushrods. FM just stuck there name on them. They are a pain to install but are a good part. Yes the SE tapers are much nicer to install and work about the same.

Wasnt the tool, didnt have it, customer off the road, the whole design, 2 jamb nuts, loose adjuster, the screw on bottom end....using the stock length tubes....all a crap design, if you gave me a set Id throw them away, wouldnt even give to my worst enemy!

Couple of things-- Yes, the FM pushrods are made by Smith Brothers. I'm looking at a set of them on my desk (Smith Brothers) as I type this. I will say this, the Smith Brothers items are second to none in quality, I've been using them in big block Chevy's for years. The disadvantage--yes, they take some tinkering to install, but there are quite a few Harley related chores that are at least an equal pain in the keister to accomplish, so no big deal here. The advantages--they work, and they retain the stock pushrod tubes, and at $45 cheaper than the SE tapered pushrods, that's $45 I can spend on gas, beer, or whatever.

My time is worth WAY more than the $45.00 difference and the hassle to install these over a set of Screamin Eagles!

IMO you might have a slightly inflated perception of what your time is worth. It probably takes an extra couple of minutes each to fiddle with the Smith Brothers versus the Screamin Eagle items. Plus, as has been said, the Smith Brothers are simply a much better quality item (and just to be clear, quality has absolutely nothing to do with convenience).

Go have a liquid refreshment and allow your undies to un-bunch for a bit, my friend.

Peace, out.

I use them all the time with higher lift cams. Smaller cams I use SE tapered. Never had a problem. If the jam nuts came loose. I'd bet the SB directions were not followed. I've never worried about weight on that side of the rocker.
