Default Exhaust gaskets

As part of a big upgrade I did over the winter I installed a set of V&H power duals on my 09 Electra Glide. The gaskets they included leaked after about 1000 miles. I really torqued after initial start up and cool down, and rechecked a few times in between but still had the leak. I have it apart now and was trying to decide between a cometics gasket or the Novello copper gaskets. Has anyone had experience good or bad with the copper Novello gaskets? Any information is appreciated. Don't want to be pulling the header on a regular basis to change gaskets. Thanks, Mike

The cometic spiral wound SS gaskets are the better than the SE gaskets. They were the only ones that would last on my FXR.. DnD used to ship their exhausts with the cometic gaskets. The power dual pipes I have are kind of sharp on the gasket side.. If yours are the same, use the cometic. The PDs will likely eat through the SE gaskets. I bought some of the copper novellos but haven't used them..

Most exhaust inlets are chocked down to 1.5in. So, it really isn't going to matter for most pipes on the market. If you have custom or a good system. The cometics do great.

I have used the novello copper exhaust seals on several bikes using after market exhaust systems. they work great, I have seen were the SE exhaust seal after tightening and removing the exhaust system after a couple times the gasket seal crushed enough to protrude into the exhaust port don't know if it would have effected performance. have never had this happen with the copper crush seals.
