Default Actual difference in cam chests? 99-06 vs 07-

I found a freakishly cheap complete fueling cam chest kit. Chain drive not the conversion.
Only problem is, it's for the older and mines newer. Are the interchangeable? If not what's the difference? Any info would be great, thanks.

07 and up have hydraulic cam chain tensioners. They replaced the troublesome spring loaded tensioners used in earlier TC's.

By yours being newer, if it's 07 up, the cam won't work.. You might be able to have a machine shop bring the inner race up to 1 inch.

Inner cam bearings on 99-06 (99-05 on Dyna's) are .875". Inner cam bearings on '07 & up ('06 & up Dynas) are 1".

If its' an older kit, it will have the smaller inner journals and won't fit later model TC's.

Isnt this what conversion cams are for? Installing a new style cam plate into and older bike?

Yes but some parts like bearing bores are built into the engine case and can not be changed easily.

Conversion cams have the .875 inner journal, and 1.00" outer; for using the newer style cam plate in older motors.
