I have a 2008 1200c Sportster. I've been looking into getting a 1250 big Bore kit. I think I've ruled out getting an 88" or 90" because I want to as much of the work myself as I can.
I have already got my exhaust and intake picked out. If i could get some input into preferred brands for big bore kits and cams, and anything else anyone might recommend for for this project. thank you in advance for everyone's help.
Check out Hammer Performance, they have some nice stuff, care to share what ou've picked out? remember that you will need to choose and use good tuning products and some dyno time.

thanks guys. ill look into the brands you recommended. i had seen the "hoolagin Kit" from S&S and wasn't sure if the cams it came with where the Rpm range im looking for. im thinking of going with the Kuryakyn Hypercharger for the intake and i have straight pipes on it at the moment. i know that's not the best idea, i plan on putting on better pipes as i go. I am not to familiar with compression and head work. what kind of work does that involve?
A good porter will set up your heads for the cam and compression you will need for the kind of power your looking for and where in the rpm range you want it. Kits are ok but you'll never see the same power that a shop like Scott's or Kirby's could do for you....
So stage II heads, cams and an S&S E carb, if it's carbureted.. oh yea forgot to say, forget the hypercharger. Lots better out there...

Thanks! i just did a little more research into the hyper charger. its a shame, but it looks like a good call not to go with that. im just gonna go with a 90 degree cone instead. thanks! see what Scott's or Kirby's would recommend.

10-1 comp, good pipe, powervision, ported heads, then pick a cam,,,,you can choose a lower end torque cam or an upper end HP cam, but that depends on your riding style, but the thing to remember is that XL's like to spin more rpm than Big twins and unless you stroke it you wont get real big torque numbers,,,,what is your riding rpm range that you want to work with, then i might be able to find a ballpark cam for you to look into.
I've tried several, from Andrews and SE to edlebrock and redshift. how do you ride?

One thing to note.. Displacement makes torque not just stroke.. So going 1250 will increase TQ when done right. Compression will increase TQ also.. Hammer performance are good guys to talk to about building XLs.
