99 fxdwg engine light
Need help!!! I have an engine light on my 1999 FXDWG and cant find out why. I have tried to pull the engine code by holding down the trip button and turning the key switch on and checking all 10 banks but they are all clear not showing any codes. Took it to the Harley shop to be scanned and they said it was a bad ignition switch. So I changed the switch but the engine light is still on.

on your year bike you can not access any self diagnostic info through the speedo. you need to go to a shop or a tech that has a scan tool that can accurately read your code and then properly diagnose what the cause is. i know that that can be a hard task, and it has been my experience that a lot of dealers do NOT have techs that know how to properly do this with the older bikes, just because the younger guys and gals coming up aren't necessarily taught the older systems. That being said, there should be a lot of qualified Indy shops that can help you out.
