Default Help on Camshaft replacement

Hi.
I would like to replace the camshaft of my 2008 Deluxe (TC96) with the Andrews 48 by myself.
I found the following video on Youtube but I didn't understand the things about the position of the pistons.
In particular what has to be done at 5:00.
Why both fingers should move in order to cut the pushrods of the rear cyl?
Many thanks in advance hoping this could eventually help others.

What he's doing there is ensuring that the lifter pair for the cylinder are both on the base circle of the cam, i.e. their lowest position. This has to be done for each cylinder both before cutting the original pushrods out, and installation of the adjustable pushrods. For removal, it unloads the valvespring pressure from the pushrods so damage doesn't occur when the pushrods are cut. For installation of the adjustable pushrods, this ensures the correct position of the lifters for proper adjustment of the pushrods.

Take a look at this cutaway and note when the piston is at the top of the compression stroke both valves are seated.

don't over complicate the proceger, simply look at the p/rods in the cylinder your going to do,in 6th gear, rotate the rear wheel till both push rods are all the way down (when the both can be spun by hand) cut them out & do the same for the other cylinder

put a drinking straw in the cylinder and turn wheel to find when piston is aprox tdc, one set of push rods you will be able to turn with your fingers, the other side will not.

OK guys.
Just another question.
At 31:48 of the video, the guy is checking the alignment of the outer sprockets.
The question is: why should they be misaligned with the new cams?
Aren't they (bolt-on Andrews 48H) full compatible with the stock ones?
Thanks.

Tolerance stacking. Everything is made to a plus/minus dimension, Say, for example only, the tolerance is +/- 10 thousands. The part could be spec'ed at 2.500" +/- 10 thousands. So the part could measure 2.510" or 2.490" and still be acceptable. If you have 10 parts all at the top end of the tolerance. (+.010) you will be 100 thousands long. If the parts are on the short side of the tolerance,(-010) you will be 100 thousands short. The purpose of the various sized cam spacers is to correct the minor differences in the manufacturer's tolerances.

I think you mean .010" .100" is a tenth of an inch.
