I have a damaged engine on 2015 Vrod Muscle, should I find and engine or part it out?

How bad is your engine? Can it be saved? That would be my first step...can I fix what I have?

The output bearing on the transmission went and sent debris through the engine. I haven't seen it yet, only photos. They are bringing me the bike back today so I'll have it in my garage now to deal with.

I guess it depends on how much you love the bike. Any 1250cc VRod engine should fit, and maybe even the 1130cc's I dunno. But if you're sick of it I'd start trying to sell it whole. If you've got a lot of time on your hands, cruise eBay to see what used parts are selling for, then account for how long you may be holding onto a VRod scattered throughout your garage waiting for things to sell.

Personally, I'd fix it.

vrod stuff is becoming hard to get. hd has discontinued a lot of parts for the vrod line depending on the years, cheapest way would most likely be to try to find a used engine and install it. I look for vrod stuff every now and then and it does not appear to have a big used market for parts.

I figured parts may get a bit scarce. I need to know now if this damage is too much to ignore

Bottom end - output bearing cavity.

Top end - output bearing cavity.
is damage to the casing is too much to ignore?

Don't know much about V-Rods but I would take it to a machine shop and see if the case can be cleaned up (bored) to receive an oversized bearing.. I'm sure there's an Indy out there that can do this if there's an oversized bearing available.... What other damage to the motor is there?

Doesn't the bearing in that location run in a race?

Did the bearing seize and spin the race in the engine case?
