Hope I'm doing this right. Today I road my 07 ultra trike about 20 miles and returned home no problem. Went to move it up into carport and it wouldn't start. Checked to see if it was getting fire and it was. Sprayed some carb cleaner in intake and it ran on it for a little bit. Still no start. took fuel line loose from tank at quick couple to see if there was fuel in the line. A little came out and I put the line back on. Tried to start bike and it started right up. Restarted several times and seems to be running good. WTF?? Should I be counting on replacing the fuel pump in the near future or what? You can hear the pump when you turn on the key.
I got 07. 2 years ago I replaced everything in tank, cause of stalling. But you need to eliminate electrical. But 12 year old pump has given you enough, IMO. Easy to spend others money. If doing your own work, I'd throw parts at it. Cheaper than labor and I call it maintenance replacing old stuff.
The fuel line inside the tank rubs on a bracket in there, providing a hole that lowers the fuel pressure to the throttle body,
Moco suggests changing fuel filter every 25k miles, mine went 35k before I started having problems, like yours, sometime turns over ok but no start, other times starts right up.........
Change filter and hoses inside tank, reroute the hose that rubs against the bracket and it should never happen again.
