Default Engine noise

I have a 1986 Softail with a belt drive dry primary, Engine is making a loud rattling noise. I thought it was a pushrod that needed adjusting, but they were fine. Changed the oil and had ALOT of fine metal in it. Used a stethoscope to pinpoint the noise and it seems to be coming from the primary side of the engine. Any ideas on where to go next.

As most issues stem from the cam chest area, I'd start there.

The early belt drive Evo's all had a little noise in the primary, it's a dry clutch. As for the other noise If you have metal in the oil I would pull the lifters and cam chest. The early lifters were known for failure...
