Replacing cams/ fuel moto b heads replace c/basket ?
Hi guy's
I'm doing some mild engine work with bolt in cams and maybe fuel moto b heads on a 16 slim. I'm guessing my HP will be around 100 to 108 range when all Is said and done.
Question I have is even though I'm not going to crazy and don't plan on going any further should I change all the clutch components ? I've heard nothing but bad things with the stock clutch basket if you go over 70 hp.
One Local shop advised I change out everything and add a chain adjuster as well while the other shop said id be fine with stock and the fuel moto vpc.
You could probably get by with the stock clutch with cams only but if you add the heads, you will need the VPC clutch hat. I would stay away from the guys that tried to sell you a primary chain adjuster.
Without head work your HP should top out just below 100, the se or equivalent heavier clutch spring maybe needed and will probably suffice with headwork too. But if you are heading in the 120+ HP and torque area the vpc + heavier spring is a great combination
Ha ha, no you don't have to do burnouts to get clutch slip, hard acceleration in your engines torque sweet spot will cause it. Mine did with just a cam and big bore kit so fitted the SE spring, once I did heads, bigger cam, bigger throttle body, injectors etc I fitted the VPC as well to be safe

My apologies , I never considered slippage I was only think about breaking the stock basket.
Tnx
Same here then I guess, I was only thinking about slipping not breakage! I haven't heard of any issues with stock assemblies failing (breaking) but would be interested to hear from others. (Mine has had 11 years of reasonably aggressive riding and never had trouble) I do change the fluid at earlier that specified intervals and it never even needs adjusting..
