Default FXDB Hillside 117”

Been absent on here for awhile, but I’m starting a new build so I figured I’d better check in. Blew the 103” for the second time, the retaining clip on the rear cylinder intake valve broke, causing the valve to drop into the cylinder. Coming into contact with the piston turned the valve stem into as S and sent debris into the front cylinder as well. After a bit of contemplating I ended up giving Hillside a call. Scott and I talked a bit about my riding style as well as horsepower & torque goals. We decided on a 110”, TMan 660ps2, Hillside’s Stage III headwork, HPI 55mm throttle body. I’ll keep the thread updated and add photos as the build progresses.

Over rev, valve float, keeper popped, bang?

Always good to discuss real requirements with a competent builder. I hear lots of good things about Hillside. I'm planning to send them some money in the next year.

Yep, pretty much. Bouncing off the rev limiter in 2nd gear which is set to 6,500, bang, no more potato potato

Bummer on the "Blown" part, but congrats on the New Build part

As a side note, I think you're in good hands. Besides having a good rep on the forums, I just like the way Scott handles himself here

Alright, change of plans already. Called today and decided a 117” is what I’m after. So anyways, 14 more cubes and Stage IV headwork here we come!

As I was reading this thread I was thinking, "the engine's coming apart, why not a 117"?

Good decision.
