Be sure to listen to the noise with a two ear stethoscope. It is really hard to tell the difference in lifters and piston slap that occurs at bottom of stroke. Just a couple thousands over can be heard in these air cooled motors.

If pistons/cylinders are original, a 2003 with that many miles if it has see the rev limiter a lot just could have a little cylinder/skirt wear.

If it runs OK, ignore it, especially if dimensions were checked when engine was gone thru if it was. Not like it's going to hurt anything.

I have seen pics with those makes, but I haven´t given it that thought - thanks ;-)

Update:

Finally the packet came all the way to Denmark 👍

My bolts didn’t have any marks, but installed the rockouts anyway - and took the bike for a 30-35 miles spin today.

Dame that made a huge difference 😎😎 I think the tapping noice is 75% gone/lowered when idling hot - but I still have a little bit in the 2000-2500 range...

the question is - is it even possible to get totally rid of it ?

heard something about exhaust-noice?? But didn’t get why and where ?!?

Have a nice weekend 🍻

Hey brother,

Thanks for the feedback

Now try some Spectro 25-60 NON-SYNTHETIC oil, you might be even happier

Best,
