Default Cam replacement with adjustable push rods

A couple years ago I had my dealer install the stage 2 torque cam kit in my 2017 Limited. As part of the install they put the H-D adjustable push rods in.

I am now thinking about replacing the H-D cam with a Red Shift 468, doing the replacement myself. All the cam install instructions and videos I can find show cutting the stock push rods.

Is there a video or instruction page that shows what the procedure is for adjustable push rods? I can't seem to find one and would like to know the proper way to do it.

SOME brands ( S&S Quickies) of adjustable`s have sufficient travel to collapse them enough to remove with out disturbing the rocker box.

This may or may not be true of yours.

You`ll need to pull the tubes open and shorten them to their minimum length and see if they can be removed when that lifter is on the cam base circle

There are plenty of videos on adjustable push rods.. Try googling it. Or go to Fuel Moto's website and click on their FM University tab. You could also go to Harley's main website and look up the adjustable pushrods and click on the guides tab for the instructions.

If they went in, I’d think they’d come out in the reverse order. Then install, and readjust.

as mentioned, search for a better video, all of the SE pushrods that i;ve ever gotten were quick install, IN the last ten years. you should be able to slacken the adjustment and remove them in order to move on with the new cam.

So what's the value of an adjustable pushrod if you still have to take the rocker covers off to remove them? I'm asking because I just purchased a set of S&S standard adjustable pushrods and I noticed that the instructions say, "If installing standard adjustable pushrods, disassemble the rocker cover and rocker arm assembly, per the appropriate service manual." Now in my case it doesn't really matter since the top end of my engine is completely apart, but in the future, should I ever have the need, I was hoping that all I had to do was loosen the adjustment screws all the way and pull the rods out without removing the rocker covers. Apparently not!

"Quickies" or "Quick Install" push rods can be R/Rd by collapsing the tubes, shortening and removing. Some "regular" adjustable push rods cannot. One needs to know what one is buying.

the only benefit at that point is not having to purchase custom length non-adjustable pushrods for each possible cam combination. Different cams can have different diameter base circles and hence need longer/shorter pushrods. Having them collapse enough to remove/install without having to remove the rocker box is a VERY NICE BONUS however.
