Default Cam replacement questions

I have a '15 Ultra Low, air cooled, 103 with 25,289 miles. Only mods so far are a V&H Big Radius exhaust and SE intake. Have time and $$, thanks to Covid-19, to change out cams (including lifters, pushrods, and inner cam bearing). Plan on doing this myself since I have time and a service manual, and fairly decent with a wrench. I know to go with the Torrington/Kyoto inner cam bearing. My preference would be to find a cam kit which includes cams, lifters, and NON ADJUSTABLE pushrods, along with inner cam bearings. Will also replace the hydraulic adjuster while I'm in it as well.

Is there a manufacturer who sells cam kits which includes the cams, lifters, non-adjustable pushrods, and inner cam bearing? I'm also considering while I'm in there, on replacing the oil pump and looking for a recommendation on a better oil pump than the stock one.

Contact Fuel Moto. They offer complete kits and I think perfect fit pushrods for whatever application and valve train height you have.

Many cams have the same base circle as stock and would allow reuse of the factory p-rods

Stop looking for a "kit'. Order a set of Andrews 48 cams, S&S lifters (standard or premium, your call), retain the OEM pushrods, replace the OEM inner cam bearings with Koyo B168s, leave the oil pump alone as it is quite adequate for the job. Get out the service manual, tools and get to work.

You did not mention fuel management but you should consider a dyno tune to get the best result from the time and $$ spent.

What "hydraulic adjuster" are you referring to?

Thanks for the insight and advice. I had already decided to go with the Andres 48 cam, just did not realize the stock pushrods would work with them. As far as fuel management goes, I have the SE Super Tuner Pro, the one you can no linger buy, not the Street Tuner. The adjuster I was referencing was the cam chain adjuster.

There is no cam chain "adjuster". I think you are referring to the cam chain tensioners. They should be fine at only 25K miles but take a look and if they are wearing normally, no need to change.

I just came across your post, iI did the same thing you are doing and then some
on my Covid brake. I would consider looking at replacing the oil pump while you are in there.
Mine went out yesterday. I am getting ready to ask some questions about the failure. But hindsite I would have definetaly op'd for the oil pump upgrade.
I am not entirely sure why it went just that it did after a cam upgrade. It was running great great oil psi. I suddenly heard almost a pop, I thought that one of my air ride lines blew.
but then noticed the light on and psi 0. Trailered it home and pulled it apart, and the pump was pretty destroyed.
By no means am I saying the HD stock pump is not adequate, but it wasn't about price for me I just didn't anticipate the failure.
The Bike is a salvaged 2012 Road Glide 26000 so that's another twist, I don't exactly know the history but the internals looked good.
Good luck on your cams mine rocked; Woods TW555 and I can't say enough about the guys at Fuel Moto

Hossup: Thanks for the insight. I had already made my mind up to do the oil pump while in there.

djl: And yes, cam chain tensioner. Figure why not for no more than what it costs. That way everything is new.

New oil pump is a waste of money that could be spent on other upgrades but it money is not an issue and it makes one feel good, by all means, spend the money. Hang on to the old pump, they ain't cheap.

If I was Hossup, I would be looking at crank runout. Outside a manufacturing defect, oil pumps just don't break; something breaks them.
