The blue, red, or brown plates and pumps are NOT needed.
Do thay look cool....sure.
We even carry them on the shelf, for those that insist.

As I have said before, reminds me of the "unleaded valve seat conversions" of the Shovelhead days......

Did you by chance find all the chunks of metal from the oil pump? If not, it's going to be a very costly fix..

Just curious about this as I just changed cams on my bike this week. Did that happen because you did not "center" the oil pump by rotating the crank while torquing the 4 bolts in sequence? I do not recall "settling" the oil pump and hope you are referring to the same thing.

I believe that is the one and same. I infered he did not remove pump from cam plate which I also didnt do until after reading the manual, I separated to re-install using the centering bolts available online.
