Default chipped sleeve on big bore kit

My 2017 Low Rider S is in the shop getting a FuelMoto 113 kit installed and they called me to come down because they found a rough edge on one of the cylinder spigots:

here is the one in question - see the jagged edge

Vs the smooth edge on the other one

Should I have them wait until Monday when FuelMoto opens and discuss, or is this irrelevant? Their concern is if the jagged bits are thin enough could vibrations cause bits to fall off into the crankcase.

I thought why not just smooth it out with a file or dremel, but I'm not an engine guy...

Any thoughts?

I don't think it's a chip, It's more more than like clearance cut. As far as I can tell, they simply forgot to debur/chamfer the cylinder after honing.

I'd think with just a little Dremel work to clean it up, you should be good to go. But, I'm not a Master Mechanic.

Clean the sharp edges off with a flex stone or light emery paper and don't worry about it.

Yes, those are definitely clearance cuts for where the cylinders (almost) meet in the case. However if they indeed forgot a step, I don’t want this jug. My real concern is if these are supposed to be precisely machined, I would expect them to be identical. It looks almost like this was over-bored and the edge of the sleeve was compromised from going too thin. But again, what do I know.

I’ll talk to Jamie on Monday. I have no doubt he’ll make it right. Just pisses me off that the bike has to sit for what will probably amount to a week, when I was expecting to be done today.

Just to add, after seeing this cutaway, it clearly shows the piston skirt passing over the rough area of the spigot. All it would take is a tiny bit of that jagged edge to break off to score the cylinder and possibly toast the motor.

its just the edge being sharp from being bored,(the actual relief is were the cylinders come close together and is machined at the factory),the sharp edge should have been cleaned up before they left FM but are not a big deal at all, just smooth it a bit with some sand paper (a flap wheel on a dremel tool would be perfect)

I would still let Fuel Moto know what they sent you. They would probably want to make sure their quality control doesn't miss it again.

Of course. I’m not touching it until I talk to Jamie. He may very well want it back as-is. I’ll see what he says tomorrow.
