Default Easy start cams vs manual compression releases

I’m installing a big bore kit on my 96in twin cam and was about to send the head off for compression releases but starting to consider easy start cams instead. It a 103 big bore and I already have Andrews 48 installed I was looking at the S&s mr 103 cam with easy starts but can’t find many reviews on them I’ve looked at fuel motos charts just wondering others thoughts on it. And should I go to a thinner head gasket than what’s in the kit on either cam?

s&s makes some pretty good stuff , have not had any issues with the products i purchased from them.
the only down side to these cams just like others, is compression test have to be done dynamically, aka, engine running.i would suspect a tad more noise while cranking till the weights fully retract. some engines and not necessarily mc engines with easy starts lists minimum cranking compression, aka, my kawasaki fsm lists anything above 50 psi but dynamically it runs 150+. the cams are not fly-weighted, the bump is ground into the cam.

I have always used manuals; just a personal choice. Some say they will forget to use them but, to me, that's like forgetting to push the start button. As to the thinner head gasket, do the math for the answer.

Easy Start ties you to S&S, where Manual allows you to use any cam manufacturer.

Great point that I overlooked in my previous and a better reason to stick with manual CRs.

I concur on the manual CRs.

You may forget to use them when the engine is cold.

When it's hot, tho, the starter motor will remind you that your memory ain't as good as it once was...

Good points, I had over looked that if I go easy start if I wanna change I would be limited or have to go manual anyway. And I have not heard anything bad about the 48 cam in that engine either thanks for the replies

if sticking with S&S cams,EZ starts are the way to go,if wanting to go with other brands down the road,go with the MCR.if going with MCR`s make sure the installer dosnt just drill the 10mm hole all the way into the chamber (we use a .125 hole) so if the MCR does fall apart, the pieces wont fall into the chamber.also make sure they put them in a place thats easy to get to when its hot,we`re not a big fan of this "jig" thing some without machining facilities use (we put them out in front of the spark plug for super easy access)
