Did a hydraulic conversion on my 2000 FLHT. Here's my Cyco shoes at @ 28,000 miles.
I was just checking on them and looking at the last picture, I'm glad I did. The shoes showed very little wear. I took Andrews TW26s out and put Andrews 26Ns back in.
Flat/sharp side of a snap ring faces the direction you do not want it to push off. So on the pin, the flat side would have faced away from the cam plate.

Not knowing that makes it 50/50 that the snap ring came off because of an improper install.
