Default Missing Cam Timing Marks 99 Dyna?

Helping my cousin over the weekend on his 1999 Dyna to replace cam chain tensioners. I can not find any marks on the cams for back chain timing. There must be something there but I am finding nothing more then 3 lines on the outboard end of the cams looking like a PEACE Sign. Any ideas where to look for what I am missing? Also, if there are none, what can I look for on cam profile to get it back together without buying a new set of aftermarket cams?

Throw up a pick of your cam. The marks should look like this.

I would add a pic but there is nothing to see....
Yes those dots are what I expected to find but these cams have no marks except for the peace sign on the inboard ends. I also found online another instance of a similar situation in a similar year Dyna. He eventually found faint traces of a squiggly line which is what I will look for next.

If you didn't remove the cams completely from the cam plate they should still be timed right, on my TC all I did was flip the plate and removed/replaced the tensioner.

We had to remove the cams to install the tensioner (clock spring) I did find the squiggly marks but only out in the sunlight tilted at the right angle. Filled them in with red marked and reassembled.

While your in there I say change those cams out with any drop in cams. Those early twincam cams in the 88s were awful.

yes, I asked Cuz but he is limited on funds so we just replaced the tensioners. This is the 3rd set now at 51K miles, roughly 25k per set. The 2nd set looked to have maybe another 15k on them. We changed them anyway for peace of mind. I am convinced the new timing chains had burs from the blanking rocess and the burs were polished off with the 1st tensioners. Anyone's guess for how long this 3rd set is gonna last.
