Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I see that lifters are considered a maintenance item, being at 30,000 miles now I'd like to replace mine given that stock lifters have had issues. I have a '14 Limited (103 wet head).
What are considered the go-to stock replacement lifters for these engines? I like the stock cams just fine.
Also, are there lifter cuff issues, or anything else I should replace while I'm in the cam chest?
Go to for lifters is like oil. Guys will have their favorites. Don't replace them with stock ones. I like s&s or hylift johnson. Some guys like fueling or woods. Stick with a good brand
I have a brand new set of Screamin Eagle high capacity lifters coming in as part of the kit I ordered that I won't be using (already running S&S) as well as a set of SE-259 cams (already running S&S 585). If interested shoot me a PM, I'm sure we can make a deal!
I swapped out a set of woods prowler lifters after ~5000k miles due to one of more being noisy. they were fine until then. installed the Johnson hylift and no more noise and its been over 8k miles and they been quiet as church mouse.
While you're there inner cam bearings, replace with koyo full complement bearings. Like spygoat said...stick with a name brand and get them from a trusted source...some counterfeiting happening online.
