Next question. Why the heck does Loctite put Blue grade in a red tube now. Use to be simple Blue was in a blue tube , red was in red.
I have blue that's in a red tube with a small blue band and red that's in a blue tube with a small red band. My wife was asking me why they do that when we were working on her bike and I couldn't really come up with a good answer. She said a woman would have done it right.
I always have to chuckle a little when the subject of “loctite colors” comes up. Without the actual number of the compound, you really are at the mercy of what most people have learned over the years. For instance …
pink - small size threads
blue- medium size threads (often removable)
red - large diameter threads (often considered permanent)
green - sleeve retaining
There are literally so many different types —- viscosities, applications, brands, etc …that simply trying to associate the intended purpose by “colors” isn’t so easy.
Go by the nomenclature and reference the manufacturers catalogs/website for the specifics on each one.
As for the color of the tube…it used to be fairly common for the small tubes at the auto parts store to be blue or red, however, the larger bottles from Henkel have (almost) always been Red, regardless of what it contained.

I've never seen a blue bottle of Loctite. Permatex yes , but not Loctite. I learn something everyday.

The .20 oz tubes were blue.. didn't matter if red or blue or green was inside.. but that's the only time I've ever seen the blue container... I have a couple some where...

That would explain why I havent seen one. I keep a big bottle on hand to top off the few small 10mL squirters I have in various places.
That’s what I was referring to on the big bottles that are used, they’re all red. At a place I worked previously, we used probably a dozen (or more) different Henkel products…all were in a bottle like your picture
