I have a 103 street bob, looking to do just a drop in cam. Trying to stay away from having to do any head work or anything major in that way. Ive had the woods tw222, feuling 543, and the andrews 48 suggested, but was just looking to hear others thoughts that possibly have done a cam swap in a street bob, as I see a lot of threads on heavier baggers and not much the street bob. I have a cobra fi2000r tuner, vance and hines straight shot slip ons, and s and s teardrop air cleaner. open to any suggestions or anyones thoughts on what would be a good fit cam for low to mid range. thanks
I have the Woods 222s in a Street Bob and I like them. I like to ride in the 2500 to 4000 range so the cams suit me well. I've tried numerous cams in various bikes. Mostly Dynas. Andrews 48s, 26s, SE 204s, SE 255s, Fueling 525s, Woods 555s. Each has their pros and cons. My favorite was the SE 255s, great torque down low and since I never rev past 4000 they worked great, but they ran too hot for me. The SE 204s didn't have the down low torque of the 255s but have a nice mid range. The 204s have a very loud exhaust note, too loud for me. The 26s and Fueling 525s were kinda blah for me. The Woods 555s I liked, but too soft on the low end. The bike ran very cool (temp) and mild, but at 2500 rpms too soft for me. The 48s and 222s run very similar. Both have great low end and mid range torque. If you're not looking to rev it out, they work great. I'm sure the Andrews 57 would be like the 555s and would rev out nice, but soft on the low end. If I ever change out the 222s, it would probably be for the CR 570-2. Never tried them, they look like a nice torque cam.
Here is my dyno sheet for the 222s. They hit 100 ft lbs of torque around 2600 rpms, and stay above till 4200. Thats with a Bassani RR3. They work for me.
Wouldnt of 570 require a little more compression. Just asking?
No, actually CR 570-2 has a 2* earlier intake close than the W222 and would be a good fit, easy tune with corrected CR about 9.4 and CCP at 195psi. I like the CR cams; good combination of TQ/HP and like to run them with CCP at 200psi.
