Just wondering if anyone has run the 22851-99a SE Cast flat tops 1550 with S&S 79cc heads without valve relief. My three cam options are S&S 510, Andrews TW21 and Wood TW6.
I’ll run clay if I have to and cut but haven’t found a single thread where these heads and pistons are paired. Not interested in using other pistons and these match nicely after I honed my bores. I already have these cams on hand as well.
I also have my stock heads if need be.
Thanks in advance.
im swapping my 94” build from a 2002 fxstb to a flht, old kb’s had a burr in the wrist pin bore making it so I had to use a drift to get the pin out. Polished it and all is well but don’t want to chance it, maybe it happened during the spiral lock install.
According to you signature, you are currently running the S&S 510s in the '02 softail build that is being transplated to an FLHT? If so, any of the cams listed will work since the TDC lift is almost identical for the Woods TW6 and the Andrews TW21 TDC lift is less than the 510; so no PTV issues with any of the three. Having said that, if the S&S heads have larger valves, I would clay anyway as the valve reliefs in the SE cast flat top pistons may be deep enoughbut might need to be opened up a bit toward the cylinder to accommodate the larger valves.
