Finally got the pv1 and target tune setup, along with feuling billet camplate and race oil pump and their lifters. Wondering if I need to buy their 1 piece pushrods now and if so what length. I typically don't like 2 piece pushrods due to they deflect too much among other things. I will be removing the tank and rocker covers so other than that why would someone buy adjustable pushrods if the factory ones will suffice? I'm putting the .574 Chris rivas cams in it since i already have them though I might buy the .545 iirc. Do I need new pushrods or will the factory units work even though I'd like to get the thicker wall from feuling etc.
The stock pushrods are fine tho they may make for a noisy top end as the preload on the lifters are .100 stock. This is assuming the base circle of those cams are the same as stock cams of course. Generally most like the preload at .130 or even .140 to better assure a quieter top end. If you do go new solids, have them custom made .030 longer than stock.
This is the way to go tho as I agree about adjustables tho they do allow for adjusting the preload til the top end is quiet.

So if I buy .030 longer than stock it should be as quiet as the stock setup? Mine has never been quiet from new lol for some reason. I did buy the hp lifters from feuling just cuz I don't trust the stock lifters to last much longer and don't want a catastrophic failure lol. What's factory length if you know
Yes.
Stock can be noisy too BECAUSE of the .100 lifter preload AND shitty lifters.
Not sure on those lifters as the general consensus is the Johnson Hylifts are the best AND cheapest as far as premium lifters go.

The "deflection" you are concerned about is a non issue and should not be a reason to avoid adjustable pushrods; S&S or Smith Brothers combined with a set of Johnson Hy-LIfts from WFO Larry are more than adequate and you can run any cam you want and set lifter preload at a specified depth.
If you are committed to fixed lenght pushrods, you need to do the math. Contact Chris Rivas and determine the difference, if any, between the OEM cam base circle and the base circle of the selected CR cam. Work out the valve train stack up and calculate the length of the pushrod required to set the lifter preload at .125" to .140"; the deeper the better IMHO. Order the fixed length pushrods from Smith Brothers and go from there. Don't know who makes Fueling lifters but believe the Johnson Hy-Lifts a better choice. JMHO.
If you haven't read the "Adjustable Pushrod Advantages" thread in this same section, take the time to read it. It is five years old but has the pros/cons of adjustables as some forum members see them and might help with your bias against adjustable push rods.
Chris rivas told me his cams are same base circle as stock hd cams and different pushrods aren't required. He did say they don't like adjustables due to deflection which they're prone to side loading. I use Smith bros for my blown alcohol drag engines and they hold up well.
