Just purchased a 2015 CVO Street Glide with 1871 miles. It is a stock 110" CVO motor but for Rinehart slip-ons. I have roughly 1.5-2K to upgrade the motor and get as much torque/hp out of it as I can within that budget. Everything I have researched and read on here is that a cam swap, exhaust upgrade (get rid of stock head pipes), and tuner will not get me the best gains without getting the compression up.
Given my budget, the following questions under the assumption that I am well versed in installing the new cams, lifters, and pushrods.
1). Will 1.5-2K be enough to get heads ported sufficiently and purchase the cam and components needed to take advantage of the porting?
2). If $$ aren't sufficient, what is the best use of the $$ to get max performance and then heads ported next winter?
I ride 1-up 75% of the time and have a heavy hand, routinely getting close to red line while banging through the gears: whether going light to light, or rolling her up on the interstate, or on country back roads and sweepers.
Thanks in advance for the opinions and suggestions
Short answer is yes, if you are turning the wrenches.
The 110 CVO motors are notorious for eating lifters so be sure to include new lifers, preferably Johnson Hy-Lifts from WFO Larry, as part of the plan. Might be useful to bring up the BigBoyz compression calculator and investigate cams, chamber and piston dome volume, etc. to hit a CCP target of 195-200psi.
If it was me I would add changing the valve springs while doing cams, lifters and springs. a little skim cut on the heads to go with the right cam will net nice gains. Once you port the heads then I'd be looking at higher compression pistons and a different cam. Then there's the option of the 117 drop on kit. It's a slippery slope and I like spending your $$.

Springs were the 1st order of business, regardless of anything else. My difficulty is finding a shop in or around Memphis that performs head work. Given that riding season is practically here, sending heads out for some unknown period of time is out of the question, unless I can find a local or regional shop which can do the work.
In lieu of that, I'll just do the cam/bearing/lifters/pushrods/springs and exhaust myself and head work will have to wait until the winter.

take your money and go trade
it will take the abuse better than the hd.
remember this, the more you do the more unreliable the hd will become. i have seen some with such a rocking motion, the rubber mounts need replacing regularly. sadly only to be beaten down by a machine 1/2 its size.

Hmmmm...lemme think how to respond to your BS. I got it:
Answer the damned questions I asked or STFU. I didn't ask for opinions on what else to buy and besides, I don't bend that way anymore to straddle a 'Busa. I was drag racing Suzuki GS-1150ES's punched out to 1350cc's and road racing GSX-R1100 crotch rockets before your dad was able to produce the DNA needed to spawn you. Christ...and you're in a Harley Forum responding to a thread like this for what reason? And what value did your response add?
