Default Cylinder head

What is this item used for? One side has a bolt in it the other does not on front cylinder.
What is this item used for? One cylinder (rear)has a bolt in it the other cylinder does not (front) it looks like a blind hole with threads? Have I lost something?

My guess is it's the head temperature sensor. It is located on the front cylinder.

Some parts books show a plug for the threaded blind hole where the engine temp sensor goes on carbureted engines. I believe the actual sensor is shown on a different page but have no reference as to what book that picture is from. Either way it threads into the sensor blind hole.

I disagree in the extent that we don't know what s&s super stock this is (evo, tc, m8, shovel). It depends on the application. Shovel, evo, tc would be an oil pressure guage outlet. **** m8. Too complicated for me.
