Folks, I'm new to the forum. I'm helping a buddy change his stock mufflers from his 08 Fatboy to Rush Slip-Ons. I've changed the "slip-ons" on my 09 Ultra and another buddy's 09 V-Rod Muscle. They were very simple and took no more than 20 minutes. The Fatboy doesn't seem as simple. I thought about removing the bracket that holds the mufflers, but I couldn't figure out how to remove the rear footpeg to remove the bracket. And the bolts that hold mufflers to the bracket are difficult to reach.
Any suggestions?
Can't help you there myself although remember my 04 Heritage was a little tricky am sure someone will chime in .. On the 08 FLHT putting Python Slip ons was a piece of cake... Welcome to the Forum by the way might want to introduce yourself in the New Members Area
Thanks Jay! I stopped by the local dealership yesterday where I spend most of my free time. I talked to one of the techs and they take the mufflers off by removing the bolts that hold the muffler on to the bracket. I apparently didn't have the right tool(s) for the job. I plan on bringing my box end wrachet to my buddy's house when his new slip-ons come in.
Oh yeah, the ones he got from a company named Motosport were the wrong Rush slip-ons. Then when he called them, they said they haven't had slip-ons for a Fatboy in three months! I guess they took whatever was on the shelf and said, "these look good, let's send these!"

That's what I did, remove the muffler from the bracket. It's tough to get in there but with a wrench it can be done. It took some persuading but they finally slid off.
For that footpeg to come off, I think it a T45, or a T50 star head and it needs to be long. I found a set at an auto parts store.
Removing the whole bracket behind the footpeg doesn't work anyway..I tried. It has to come out to get off the two bolts at the bottom and it order for that to work, you have to unbolt the pipes fromt he motor.
