Screamin' Eagle 103 ci Street Performance Stage 4 Kit
Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I just had the Stage 4 kit installed on my 13 Ultra and I am noticing more top end noise than before. Has anyone else had this happen? I have done 4 smart tune runs so far and the bike runs great, I just was wondering if the increased noise was something I should be worried about.
I also have 13 Ultra and had the Stag 4 kit installed along with a 2-1-2 ceramic coated header and Vance & Hines Monster Ovals. The engine diffinitely has more noise coming from the top end. I took it back and the tech tore into the top end and could not find anything wrong. I was told it was normal. I havent had it dyno'd yet so not sure what kind of numbers I'm getting yet.

My dealer called their tech support and was told it was because of the heavier valve springs. What you are hearing is the valves closing because of the heavier springs. So I guess it is normal.

I picked the bike up yesterday. The tech said he had to play with the timing on it. Whatever he did the noise is gone. However, the bike doesn't seem to be as strong as it was before. Prior to having the pro tuner and Dyno work done there was a serious valve spring noise. The tech told me it would go away with the pro tuner and Dyno tuning. It did...but since he worked on it, the valve spring noise is back. I don't mind the noise, it's the lose of power since I got back that's bothering me now.
