Default 1550 Big Bore Kit

My son is looking at a bike to buy and the guy said that it has a 1550 Big Bore Kit. It might be called something else but if I'm correct on what it's called can someone explain to me what are the pro and cons if any of having it installed on a bike other than making it go faster. Will it cause the bike to get less MPG, etc?

Thanks....

If it was installed with care, you should have no problems with it. Mileage should not be hurt too badly. I installed a 98" kit in mine and have noticed very little change in mileage.

Its not a big deal just gives the bike a few more horse power nothing crazy. It's good for about 7-10 hp good but nothing overkill. And milage should be similar.. In fact Joe Minton claimes to get 51 mpg with that setup. Under "normal" driving if u make more power can give it less gas getting up to speed so sometimes it helps and not hurts mpg

The Big Bore kit increases displacement from 88" to 95". It is likely that there were other modifications/upgrades done at the same time the BB kit was installed. Most owners don't stop with a BB kit which is a component of a Stage II upgrade and incluldes SE203 cams and stronger clutch spring. If the bike is fuel injected, this upgrade is often accompanied by a fuel management system; either a pot type fueler like the Dobeck TFI or a more sophisticated system like the PC III. If carbureted, a re-jetting of the carb is required to optimize performance.

Having said all that, it is possible that the previous owner did stop with the BB kit. Further investigation would be required to verify.
