Default piston

thinking about upgrading my 88 to 95. want to run andrews 37 they say they should run 9.7 - 9.8.1 compression. would wiseco domed pistons fit with the stock heads. that would bring it up to 9.5.1 then use 030 gasket should get me close to the compression i want. the bike is a 06 streetglide

Depends on the dome volume and the chamber volume. Best to CC the head and use a compression calculator to figure out what you need to do. Most TC heads will run 85-86cc but I have seen them measure 89-90cc. Using domes and maintaining chamber volume is a better approach to set compression than using flat top pistons and cutting .060".

From what I here its best to run flat tops pistons.. I would send ur jugs to to big Boyz and have them bored out for 150$ new pistons 200$ and have him port the heads 300$ and for 70$ he decks the heads and u can set settle compression anywhere u want. The hole job would run u around 700$

Using flat top pistons is one way to get there but requires that chamber volume to be reduced to 76cc; a .050" cut on the heads, to set CR at 10:1 per Scott's example in his post. That deep a cut can make intake manifold alignment difficult as well as render the heads useless in the future for a different cam set. Working the heads and ending up with say an 88cc-90cc chamber and a domed piston does not affect intake manifold alignment and makes the heads useable in the future with different cam sets which also makes that heads more attractive to a future buyer as he will not be limited in cam choices.

Want more lift?
We, at this time are setting up a 98"er, once again for a client from Mass.
Wood 408/ 10.6 cr/roller rockers/98"/our Stage III Super-Tour Heads/55 mm HPI.
Crank is pinned, and welded.
Gonna' be a beast.

use 22851-99A SE pistons (9.4-1),then mill the head .027,as long as the head was 85cc`s to begin with, this should put you right in the 9.8-1 area (DONT do any machining without cc`ing heads first)
