I find it hard to believe that a bottom tap can "crush" a drill bit. I'd think the limited hole threads engaged before it contacts the broken bit would give out before anything crushed.

Depending on deep the bit is in,you could use a small hardened punch and hammer and brake in pieces using a magnet to remove them .Takes patients but I have done this too many times,also works with broken taps. Good luck...

We just bolted the tanks back on with the top bracket bolted to the tanks and not to the frame.

Will try again next time we have to take the tanks off.
