92 FXRS carb issue
I am running a stock cv carb and while the bike is running the carb will drain the gas tank out of the overflow hose on the bottom of the carb. I had a different carb on the bike when I got it (stock cv as well) and it was doing the same thing so I changed out to my current one and it was running fine.
Over winter I didnt get to ride it much so it sat for a couple months. I noticed it started overflowing when I started it up to take it around the block. I had the petcock in the off position when it was stored like always. So far I have taken the carb apart and cleaned it real well. When I did this I did notice that there was a bunch of gunk in the bowl of the carb. I put some sea foam in the tank and let it run through with the gas thinking this might help but nothing.
Any ideas on what is going on here?
Make sure float has no gas in it ,if it does, has a hole and won't float.
Check proper float setting.
Make sure needle valve is perfect along with the orifice.
edit: btw Do you have a vacuum hooked to the petcock? These are known to leak and cause strange problems.

-Check float height
-Check the float, make sure it actually floats in gas, nothing inside, hold it below the surface in a jar and see if it fills up with gas
-Check your float needle. I would just replace it at this point while your in there, make sure the needle seat is clean, would take a tiny piece of debris to keep it from sealing
-check the seal around the bowl make sure its not leaking.
Something is not stopping the bowl from filling with gas causing it to go into the overflow, the needle should block the flow as soon as the bowl fills up, thats all there is to it.
