Deputy, I recommend you get to your battery asap! Just because it isn't easy means you need to act faster, not slower. Your problem could be as simple as loose or dirty contacts on your main battery cables, which can significantly reduce the battery power getting to your starter. Dismantle your main cables at both ends, clean and refit.
So I was able to do a few preliminary checks at my battery last night. I found that my volt meter on my dash is at least full volt off compared to actual voltage. 11v on dash gauge is actually 12v at battery. Battery sitting idle was at 12.6v and pushing better than 14v when running. So the charging system is working fine. I do feel I still have a parasitic drain on battery tho. If it sits for more than a few days it turns over slower than normal and takes a bit to pop off. I can only blame this on weak spark. Because if I leave the battery tender on it, I never have that issue. It always pops right off. So I failed to test my battery with my load tester as I had other things I was doing on it. But I did order a new Lithium battery (battery tender brand), and it's supposed to have 460cca. If it's as good as they claim to be it should hold a charge better than the AGM batteries. We shall see. I also got the stator connector retainer in place. That was a little annoying too. Why the hell would they run a bolt through the case and nut it on the other side where you can just barely get a wrench on it. Stupid! See pic of retainer, no chance of accidentally knocking it off anymore.
Your retainer is very neat - have you made it yourself?
No beemervet sent me an eBay link in another thread I had going about that connector coming loose. I'm on my phone right now and can't post links and such. Do a thread search in my profile or search the evo forum for stator connector issue you should be able to find it easily. Otherwise I will post it up here later.
