Then I was told EFI was just as reliable as in the later years except 2000-2001. Then I remembered someone telling me of the headaches of the TC top end. They would have to be changed to gear instead of what came on a stock. I also was told of a know issue with a certain part,if failed on the TC would case an engine to fail. That's why I wanted a Evo for the known reliability. Then there is guys bashing carbs. Then they started on the lack of aftermarket parts before 97. I now don't know what heads or tails now.
This is why..... Too many stories and no solid direction. Imagine being told 2 stories at the same time that conflict with each other.

Every bike from every year has pros and cons.

If you want a reliable and easy to tune/repair and don't care about the fuel system, go for a carbureted EVO, avoid models with Magneti Marelli EFI, on the other hand if you buy a Twin Cam 88 be aware about cam chain tensioner because it wears and need to be replaced at certain mileage.

Hope this clarifies to you.

I don't know the who you have been talking to but you need to stop listening to whoever you are talking about in the first part of that.

Seriously get a bike with a carb.

I that what I originally wanted an Evo but was talked out of it. I love simplicity.

Yeah I was warned about that issue on the TC. That the reason I'm wanting to lean away from them.

Think of it all this way dude.
You just stepped into the evo section of a tech forum and everyone is telling you the first guy was full of crap. About 10 to 1 in favor of him being a dumbass.

I'd go with the numbers myself..

I own a 94 Ultra classic and have little effort finding stuff that fits. Handlebar controls, seats and some mounting hardware is about all that's different. The basics are generally the same.

Carb all the way..

Unless you have spent the money you can still go back to the original plan.

What were you looking for again??

Your signature says you are getting a Harley in 10 months.
Which one?
